Extend wifi signal using TP-Link router TL-wr740

Hello friends, In this post, I am going to tell you how to extend wifi signal using old router Tp-link router tl-wr740. If you are worried about weak wifi signal then you came to the right place.
Okay, all you need is a just tp-link router.

In this router, there is a function called WDS (Wireless Distribution System ) that enables the wireless interconnection of access points in an IEEE 802.11 network
It allows a wireless network to be expanded using multiple access points without the need for a wired backbone to link them.

A wireless distribution system (WDS) is a system empowering the remote interconnection of passages in an IEEE 802.11 system. It enables a remote system to be extended utilizing numerous passages without the conventional necessity for a wired spine to connect them. The prominent favorable position of WDS over different arrangements is that it safeguards the MAC addresses of client outlines crosswise over connections between access point.

Extend wifi signal
To setup WDS the following step is required:-

 

 

step1:

Login to router’s management page by entering gateway IP i.e 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1

Step2:

Go to Wireless ->> Wireless Settings and check Enable WDS.

Step3:

Click on Search/Survey and select your wifi ssid whole signal you want to extend say root router.

Step4:

The root’s AP SSID and mac address will be filled automatically. Now enter security setting and wireless channel that match to the root router.

Step5:

Click DHCP ->> DHCP settings page and disable DHCP server and click save.

Step6:

Go to Network –> LAN and modify the IP address of the router.
Note: Both the router should be on the same network. For example, if gateway IP of the router is 192.168.0.1 and subnet mask is 255.255.255.0 then you can use IP that is in range of 2-254 .you can use 192.168.0.2 or 192.168.0.4.

Step7:

Go to system tools ->> reboot to reboot the router.

Step8:

Then check whether you can get a connection to root router and internet or not by pinging.
